Article marketing is a form of advertising in which an Internet marketer submits an article related to his or her website theme or product to an article directory for syndication.

The article includes a resource box containing a short bio about the author, and/or more information about the product or website. Hyperlinks, with keyword anchor text, are typically imbedded in this box.

A well written resource box will include a call to action enticing the reader to click through one of the hyperlinks, leading to a potential sale, newsletter sign up or adsense click on the other end.

Once an article is accepted by an article directory, it is made available for other webmasters or newsletter owners to include as content on their own pages -- provided the resource box, with hyperlinks, is kept intact.

While article marketing can lead to increased traffic and sales, it is even more valuable for all the backlinks that are created as the article becomes published on more and more websites, so enhancing the SEO of the webpage.
